Chinese Brush Painting & Watercolour Exhibition (Toronto - October 2019)
As part of our series this month on Chinese calligraphy and art for modern audiences, we completed a round-up of these beautiful graphics for you. Designed by Fête Chinoise, these colourful characters were written by Master Debbie Mak. Each quote represents a message about time and acts as a reminder for us as we live our busy lives. Chinese philosophers have constantly commented on the impermanence of life. As such, even in contemporary times, Chinese idioms are filled with wisdom about time and using this resource wisely. Explanations are listed beneath the image.
Master Debbie Mak is part of a larger exhibition entitled: “PASSION ART: Chinese Brush Painting & Watercolour.” Along with artists Ken Loke and Winnie Yang, this feature exhibition arrives in Toronto this week! As any artist understands, it takes years and years of process work and practising one’s skill to produce meaningful pieces for public viewing.
If you are interested in this collaborative project or in seeing the visions of these Chinese artists, please pay the McKay Art Centre a visit before the exhibition ends on October 6. Details are listed below.
