A MEANINGFUL PROJECT THAT IS BOTH CULTURALLY INSPIRING AND NOURISHES THE COMMUNITY!
LOVE AT MID-AUTUMN CHARITY CAMPAIGN 2024
Thanks to everyone's generous support, we raised $65,000 for Scarborough Health Network and the Fête Chinoise Cultural Foundation. A heartfelt thank you to all our sponsors, key supporters, ambassadors, and committee members who joined us at Scotiabank North Tower to mark Love at Mid-Autumn 2024. Dedicated to celebrating cultural heritage and giving back to the community, Fête Chinoise’s annual Love at Mid-Autumn Charity Campaign has donated over a net of $150,000 to Canadian charities to date (Markham Stouffville Hospital, SickKids Foundation, and the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehab Hospital).
The Charity Campaign is returning for the 4th year, and we invite you to be a part of it.
Mooncakes hold a special place in Chinese tradition and are usually eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節). Celebrated when the moon is at its fullest on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, this festival represents completeness, family unity, and reunion. Inspired by our Eastern roots, this year we're creating something unique for all to cherish, preserving tradition and heritage.
THE DESIGN
A love letter to Hong Kong's Neon Lights, this year's tin is a collector’s item brimming with nostalgia and cultural heritage! The 2024 collectors’ mooncake tin design is inspired by the vibrant night view of the streets of Hong Kong's cherished neon lights, emblematic of city life, which symbolise a period of societal progress and economic prosperity. Each light represents not only the shop or business but also the craftsmanship, calligraphy and expertise to bend light tubes into the myriad of configurations that made the streetscape so very special. This phenomenon of Hong Kong’s iconic neon lights is explored in our 2024 Design Annual.
While neon lights are gradually being supplanted by LED technology, the design of the 2024 mooncake tin celebrates the legacy of the heritage, resonating with diaspora communities worldwide. Every sign that is illustrated onto this tin montage was done by pen and ink, in multiple layers to capture the complex structure of a neon light's construction, allowing us to create the intricate embossing, texture and visual sparkle.

A GIFT THAT KEEPS GIVING
In 2024, our mission to Move Culture Forward continues. 100% of net proceeds from mooncake sales will benefit two charitable entities: the Fête Chinoise Cultural Foundation and Scarborough Health Network.
Fête Chinoise Cultural Foundation is a charitable fund that focuses on lifting the community through Chinese culture in Canada. The funds raised will be donated to Canadian charities whom we will work with to create beautiful cultural moments and to bring world class art, exhibitions and initiatives to Canada from Asia and other parts of the world.
Scarborough Health Network (SHN) treats one of Canada’s most diverse communities, made up of 59% new Canadians and 74% who are visible minorities. With high numbers of culturally-prevalent diseases, SHN is uniquely positioned to address and promote equitable healthcare for Scarborough and beyond. Through the Love, Scarborough campaign SHN Foundation has inspired the support of generous donors, volunteers, and community members to upgrade our hospitals to match the exceptional quality care provided within. SHN has done more than anyone thought possible with less than anyone could imagine. Together we can imagine what we could do with more.

PROJECT HISTORY
In 2021, during COVID lockdowns, this pilot initiative raised $40,000 net for the Mental Health & Wellness Program at Markham Stouffville Hospital. In 2022, we donated $50,000 net to the SickKids Foundation in support of the Ukrainian Paediatric Assistance Fund and the Herbie Fund. Last year in 2023, we donated $60,000 to Holland Bloorview Kids Rehab Hospital to support children with disabilities and complex medical needs and their families. We delivered our original signature heart-shaped mooncakes to over 900 families across the country. It was a passion-driven design project in a challenging time. We spread love and hope to confronted anti-Asian racism with a beautiful concept that celebrates the diversity and inclusiveness of our country.
