It’s that time of year again for the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards (CAFA)! This annual event celebrates the top artists, influencers, and business leaders in Canada’s fashion industry. Hosted by Canadian drag artist and television personality Brooke Lynn Hytes, this year’s gala took place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
In addition to honouring established and emerging talents, CAFA announced the launch of the Indigenous Fashion Award, shining a spotlight on Indigenous designers and artisans across the country.
Fashion is celebrated in many forms, and as part of CAFA’s philanthropic commitments, the 2024 Gala spotlighted two remarkable organizations: Shelter Movers, a volunteer-powered charity providing moving and storage services for individuals and families fleeing abuse, and End Violence Everywhere (EVE), which offers advocacy services for survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault. Both organizations work tirelessly to support vulnerable communities and promote social change.
Roots, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, received the 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award. Congratulations are also in order for Nobis, which took home the Outerwear Brand of the Year Award. Linda Evangelista was honoured with the 2024 Vanguard Award for her iconic contributions to the industry, while Justice Faith and Nia Faith received a 2024 Changemaker Award for their empowering work through Révolutionnaire and The Rév Shop. Other notable winners included Ben Barry, recognized for his efforts to promote inclusion and equity in fashion education.
