Our "Love at Mid-Autumn" campaign returned for its fourth year, culminating in a successful Thank You Cheque Presentation Event last Friday at the Scotiabank North Tower. Born in a time of uncertainty, the campaign continues to spread love throughout the community, achieving a new milestone by raising $65,000 for Scarborough Health Network and the Fête Chinoise Cultural Foundation.

Over the years, the "Love at Mid-Autumn" charity campaign has consistently given back to the community, attracting philanthropic partners and supporters to make an even greater impact. This year's campaign was supported by Saint Germain (Bakery Partner), Palettera (Design Partner), Cadillac Canada (Official Automotive Partner), Scotia Wealth Management (Financial Services Partner), Union City by Metropia (Corporate Partner), Park Hyatt Toronto (Hospitality Partner), Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office and Lee’s Fu Inc. (Community Partners), as well as National Post, The Kit, and Fairchild Radio (Media Partners).

The Thank You Event showcased a special performance by renowned violinist Angel Wang, the founder and the Artistic Director of Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, with Nancy Kersher on violin, Claudio Vena on viola, and Paul Windner on cello. Their captivating repertoire of Galloping Horses and Tone of the Four Seasons provided guests with a refreshing and immersive musical experience. The performance added an elegant and culturally enriching touch to the afternoon, showcasing the exceptional talents of accomplished musicians.

Another highlight of the event was the silent auction of an exquisite calligraphy piece by Malaysian contemporary artist Jameson Yap, featured in the Fête Chinoise 2023 Design Annual. Yap’s artwork, titled “Embracing the Imperfect Moon 擁抱不完美的月亮,” was created specifically for this charity campaign using his renowned river stroke technique. Inspired by Su Shi’s classic poem 《水調歌頭》, which reflects on the cycles of joy and sorrow and the enduring beauty of human connections, this piece celebrated the elegance found in life’s imperfections and was displayed at the event, allowing guests to appreciate its beauty up close.

Under the imperfect moon, may a perfect mood be found, cherishing moments of togetherness and the heartfelt connections that transcend distances. Hearts remain close, even if miles apart, as individuals gaze upon the same moonlit sky, embodying the values of harmony and familial love that are central to Chinese culture.

During the event, our Creative Director and Editor-in-Chief, Deborah Lau-Yu, warmly thanked our campaign partners and presented appreciation certificates to the major supporters, committee members, and ambassadors who played a key role in the campaign’s success. She also announced the launch of Fête Chinoise’s Inaugural Art of Celebrations Annual and shared that the 2025 Lunar New Year Signature Event is scheduled for January 25, 2025.

The Thank You Cheque Presentation Event was graciously supported by Scotia Wealth Management, which provided a stunning venue and a delightful selection of Chinese-inspired hors d'oeuvres and refreshments to celebrate the occasion.

As we embrace the Mid-Autumn Festival this week, we encourage you to make the celebration even more meaningful by supporting a noble cause. Keep an eye out for more cultural celebrations and stories inspired by our rich heritage, coming soon across our platforms!
