From now until August 31, Cathay Pacific is partnering with Shangri-La Toronto to celebrate its 30 years of connecting Toronto and Hong Kong, by presenting the latest summer Sky-High Afternoon Tea Menu at the hotel. This collaboration highlights the cherished Asian heritage of these two leading brands, offering guests a chance to experience their exceptional luxury and hospitality.
The exclusive afternoon tea set is curated to give guests a taste of the Cathay Pacific journey on the ground with Shangri-La’s culinary artistry lead by Troy Cabarios and Steven Tran. The menu reflects Cathay Pacific’s extensive network across Asia, infused with fusion twists. Delicacies such as Bulgogi Croquette and Negima yakitori showcase hints of Japanese and Korean flavours, while Golden Crescent Chana Delight and Lobster Bao are iconic Asian plates.
In the bakery basket, alongside the signature Shangri-La scones, the culinary team has introduced a new spin by blending five spice and Chinese sausage into the pastry, complemented by a refreshing guava passionfruit jam on the side.
The sweet offerings are inspired by British classics with Hong Kong flavors. The Cathay Pacific Trifle features layers of mango yuzu pudding, reminiscent of Chinese dim sum eateries and sweet soup stores; Lychee, a native Chinese fruit, is added to a classic Victoria Sponge, topped with wild strawberry jelly; Rhubarb, matcha, and brown sugar come together in a cube of Eton Mess. Additional treats include Millionaire Shortbread and the Hong Kong Custard Tart, the latter featuring mochi at its centre for an added layer of experience.
Notably, the iconic Hong Kong Custard Tart is a staple both in the air and on the ground, with Cathay Pacific serving these beloved treats on their flights. Countless revisions have been made to perfect the flavour balance, ensuring that passengers can enjoy the authentic taste even at 30,000 feet.
The editor’s favourite is the Cathay Delight, Cathay Pacific’s signature mocktail offered in business and first class. Now available on the ground exclusively at Shangri-La Toronto, this unique kiwi-based beverage adds a refreshing tone and balances the whole dining experience.
By attending the afternoon tea, each guest stands a chance to win an exclusive prize package valued at $17,296 CAD to Hong Kong. This includes two round-trip Cathay Pacific business class tickets, a stay at Island Shangri-La Hong Kong, and all-inclusive city adventure passes for two in Hong Kong.
As close partners of both Cathay Pacific and Shangri-La, it's truly heartwarming to celebrate Cathay Pacific’s 30 years of connecting Toronto and Hong Kong through this collaboration. Here's to stronger ties between Canada and Asia, and many more journeys to Asia in the future!
